Books I Read In 2022

Books

I am glad that I could touch upon a lot of genre this year. Here is a full list of books I read in 2022-

Technical Books

  1. Typescript in 50 lessons by Stefan Baumgartner

A huge book illustrating a lot of practical examples in typescript. The lessons are divided into seven chapters. The first three chapters are skippable if someone has basic knowledge on Typescript. I can’t say that I have read it cover to cover, most of the time I played around with the code and looked up explanations in the book and many times from other sources too, when got stuck.

  2. Passionate Programmer by Chad Fowler

It is a productivity and career development book for software engineers. After reading this, one of the practices I follow is maintaining a Bug Journal, keeping a record of bugs and their possible solutions and revisiting them from time to time.

  3. Refactoring by Martin Fowler, Kent Back

Classic read, learned a ton and would highly recommend anyone working on a large system. All of the refactoring techniques mentioned in this book can be found in Refactoring Guru

  4. Calm Technology by Amber Case

This book is more geared towards people working in the Human-Computer Interaction field and IoT devices. Calm Technology is a set of principles based on integrating technology into our lives without letting technology take full control of our attention. Interesting concept but I found the book too theoretical and wish there were more scenarios explained for digital interfaces.

  1. Exhalation by Ted Chiang (Probably the best book I read in 2022)
  2. Stories of Your Life and Others by Ted Chiang
  3. Hail Mary by Andy Weir

  2. Fire & Blood by George R. R. Martin
  3. The Lottery And Other Short Stories by Shirley Jackson

  1. The Almanack of Naval Ravikant
  2. Peak by K. Anders Ericsson and Robert Pool
  3. No Rules Rules by Erin Meyer and Reed Hastings
  4. The Startup of You by Reid Hoffman

Memoir

  1. We Were Dreamers: An Immigrant Superhero Origin Story by Simu Liu
